Candied Pumpkin Body Scrub

Jenny Duranski, owner of Lena Rose Natural Beauty, a green beauty boutique and organic spa in Chicago, IL, is the creator of this recipe. This mixture is basically a body scrub containing healing and moisturizing vitamins such as A, C and E. There are also mineral supplies like zinc, potassium and magnesium in this recipe.

You Will Need:

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon almond oil or grapeseed oil
  • 1 tablespoon organic cane sugar
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon organic pumpkin powder or pumpkin puree (if using puree, add 1 tablespoon more of cane sugar to make sure your scrub is not too wet)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger granules or crystallized ginger

Instructions:

Pour all the ingredients in a bowl and mix with spoon. The final consistency must be at cookie-dough level; not too wet nor too dry. Apply a quarter size amount in shower and rub it onto your body with circular motions. Be careful while using oil-based scrubs. You don’t want to slip and hurt yourself!

  • Pinch salt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Juice of half a lime

Instructions:

Mix ingredients in a bowl. Apply to body in the shower and massage gently in a circular motion. Rinse thoroughly.

Exfoliating Honey Face Mask

This exfoliating honey face mask is another magic recipe from Wong’s collection of skincare ideas. It soothes irritation and redness, cleanses skin pores and kind of blurs out wrinkles and lines. The rich pack of Omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids in this mask makes it a great option to provide your skin with proper nutrients.

You Will Need:

  • 2 tablespoons raw honey
  • 2 tablespoons rose tea (brew a cup of rose tea and let it cool)
  • 1/4 cup oatmeal
  • 3 drops rosehip oil

Instructions:

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix to a paste. Apply to face for 10 minutes. Rinse with tepid water.

DIY Lip Mask

Joanna Vargas, celebrity aesthetician, has recommended this simple, two-ingredient lip mask. You’re most likely to have these items at home already.

You Will Need:

  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil 
  • 1 tablespoon honey 

Instructions:

Combine the ingredients in a small bowl and stir until smooth. Massage on and around lips, and leave on for 5 minutes.

This anti-bacterial and moisturizing home-made balm helps restore the lipid layer of your skin, soothing dry and chapped lips. Bonus are the anti-flammatory properties easing irritation.

Wrinkle Reducing Eye Mask

Add honey to the mixture and it will sooth your tired eyes. “Apply the mixture around your eyes and on crow’s feet, but avoid the eyelids,” says Vargas.

  • 1/2 cup blended pineapple
  • 1/2 teaspoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon yogurt

Instructions: 

Mix the ingredients together (using your hands works best) and apply around your eyes, avoiding the lids. Leave the mask on for 10-15 minutes and then rinse.

According to Vargas, the hydrating properties of honey, anti-flammatory components of milk and brown sugar acting as a gentle exfoliator all together make this scrub a great choice for your face and/or body.

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions:

Mix the ingredients together by hand and gently scrub into the skin. Let sit for 3-10 minutes. Then rinse off.
